Help us thank Seattle's Mayor

Use the form below to help us thank Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan for her continued support for the city’s first supervised consumption space (SCS).

If you submit a note by 5pm on February 15th, Yes to SCS volunteers will make sure all your notes are mailed off the following day, and that they flood the mayor’s office with a reminder of Seattle's decisive support for supervised consumption spaces.

Below the form we have some draft text to help make the process quick and easy.

Thank you, Mayor Durkan!

Dear Mayor Durkan,

I want to take a brief moment to thank you for your continued work towards establishing a supervised consumption space (SCS) in Seattle.

As a resident and voter, it makes me proud that Seattle is leading the country by recognizing and implementing SCSs as an evidence-based, effective, and compassionate response to problems associated with drug use.

I know that King County and City leadership have played a crucial role to getting us to this point. Likewise, I am aware there is much work ahead.

That being the case, I’m writing to express my gratitude for your efforts so far and to tell you that you have my full support as you move forward with establishing Seattle’s supervised consumption space and the program operating within it.

I know you share my concern regarding the harms and losses that come in its absence, whether in the form of disease transmission, preventable overdose deaths, or a missed opportunity to provide wound care to someone who needs it. I hope that the momentum we have seen to date continues, and that Seattle can soon boast the first successful SCS implemented in the United States.

In the meantime, I will be doing what I can as a citizen to support the “Yes to SCS” effort and make people aware of your and Seattle’s good work in this regard.

Thank you again for your leadership.
