Join us at the final public budget hearing to tell Seattle City Council to FULLY fund and implement SCS in the 2019 budget!
RSVP on Facebook for all the information you need, and we’ll see you there!
Last year, the Council dedicated $1.3 million to bring a safe consumption space (SCS) to Seattle -- yet Mayor Durkan failed to spend a single dollar to make it happen. Now Mayor Durkan has proposed rolling over that $1.3 million into the 2019 budget, but has stated that this is not enough to cover operating costs.
Mayor Durkan says she’s ready to stand up to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and that funding is the only obstacle. So let's solve that obstacle and force Mayor Durkan to stop dragging her feet and start saving lives.
We are asking that the Council fully fund an SCS to open and operate in 2019, and that Mayor Durkan commit to ongoing funding for that SCS.
The budget hearing will begin at 5:30pm but we advise people to arrive early to get in line for public comment (and make sure to bring a book for the wait!). If you don't want to give public comment, we still need you there -- we will have signs, banners, and shirts! Let the council know that Seattle is ready for action -- delays mean deaths!
